What Causes Cholera?
Vibrio cholerae is the reason behind cholera. These bacteria produce CTX which is a toxin that can result in deadly result. It binds to the intestinal walls and hinders the normal flow of sodium and chloride, when these bacteria get attached to small intestine the body starts secreting water in the large amount that leads to diarrhea and rapid loss of fluids and salts.
